Why does jewelry tarnish?

Virtually, all metals tarnish, it has nothing to do with the quality of the metal. It is an environmental factor. Contact with air, humidity and body chemistries may cause jewelry to tarnish over time.

How do I remove tarnish from my jewelry?

Polishing cloths work better than liquid jewelry cleaner. I include my own formulated jewelry polishing cloths with every purchase. Lightly buff your pieces with the polishing cloth to restore shine.

I have metal sensitivities and/or allergies. Can I wear your jewelry?

This highly depends on the individual, how they are affected and what metals they are affected by. I have metal sensitivities and wear all of the items and have no reactions. This varies from person to person.

What types of metal do you use?

I use only 100% pure Copper, 92.5% Sterling Silver and Pewter.

What are your necklace chains and earring posts made from?

Necklace chains are made from 92.5% Sterling Silver, Earring posts are 92.5% Sterling Silver and Copper are 100% Copper.

What is 92.5% Sterling Silver?

92.5% or .925 sterling silver is 92.5% Sterling Silver in weight and 7.5% Copper. Pure Sterling Silver or 100% Sterling Silver is very soft and would bend or break. It needs to be used with another metal for hardness and durability.

What is Pewter?

Pewter is a tin based alloy. It contains 92% Tin, 6% Antimony and 2% Copper. Pewter is easy to care for. It does not tarnish the same way sterling silver does, rather it darkens over time.

What is Copper?

Copper is a reddish-metallic alloy metal, naturally occurring in nature. Copper will oxidize over time and form a patina, which can give greenish brown, antique looking color. Copper is  naturally antibacterial. Copper is is a long lasting and is completely recyclable. Copper is thought to have several health benefits, one being arthritis and joint pain relief.

None of my pieces contain any Lead or Nickel in the materials but I always recommend that if you have a nickel allergy to only wear Sterling Silver and 18k Gold pieces just to be on the safe side.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes, I'd be happy to work with you on a special piece that you will love.

How long will my jewelry last?

Worn everyday my pieces should last 20 to 30 years. If jewelry is worn occasionally and jewelry care tips are followed it should last a lifetime.
